CLAT 2014 Results Expected on 6th June

In my last post (CLAT 2014 in a Perplexing State), I categorically stated that the Reconciliation Process of OMR Sheets and Barcode Stickers in CLAT-2014 will take at least two to three days. It is indeed the case. The Current Position with respect to the CLAT results is given below.

1. Today, the CLAT Authorities told the media that “The concept of affixing the candidate sticker and the barcode was introduced to evaluate the OMR sheet without revealing candidate's details. The reconciliation will be done by opening the concealed section containing the candidate sticker and the details filled in by the candidates.

2. “The process will be completed by end of the week”, said Surajit Mukhopadhyay, a CLAT Committee Member. He also said that cross-checking of all the 33,491 answer sheet will be carried out manually.

3. Late in the afternoon, the CLAT Applicants also received an E-Mail from CLAT Secretariat confirming that a physical verification of the OMR sheets is being carried out.

4. The expected date and time of the CLAT result according to the E-Mail is 1700 hours on Friday, 6 June 2014.

5. The E-Mail also promised that a complete Merit List (name, roll number, score, rank, birth date, gender, category, domicile) of all candidates along with category-wise merit list, Personal OMR Answer Sheet and all the four sets of model answer keys will be made accessible in the LOGIN ACCOUNT of every candidate.

6. Interested Parties can also visit CLAT Secretariat for physical verification after the announcement of results till 10th June, 2014 (1700 Hours).

Thus, we can safely expect the results by the end of this week. I am not sure how the delayed results are going to affect the Counselling Process. The Date for Counselling Session needs to be extended and any change in dates in the CLAT Calendar must be intimated to the students as soon as possible so that the applicants are able to prepare themselves accordingly and get the necessary reservations done in advance.

It is indeed a good step by the CLAT Authorities to physically verify each and every OMR Sheet. It will certainly minimize the margin of error and remove any discrepancies left.

For the sake of probity and transparency, releasing the Merit List will all the necessary details such as name, roll number, category etc. is also a welcome step. Let us hope that the results come out soon.
